Customer appreciation photo

A past customer had recently contacted me to show me what she had done with one of my offerings in my shop (listing picture as shown).  To be able to see what else I was offering, you would have to view my sold items on my site as I am not currently listing (but reopening soon).  I have often wondered about her outcome with the item that she purchased.  This is her blog showing just what she did.  She states that she is not an artist but viewing her photos, I have to say, she needs to rethink that statement....WELL DONE!  She is the perfect example that anyone can do art and be good at it.  I feel so proud that I could be a part of her exciting news in some little way.

Much Mahalo

Where have you been?

"I've been a little busy" doesn't even begin to explain my absence.  It has been about 6 months since my move from Hawaii to Singapore due to my husband accepting a job.  It has taken that long to adjust to the new culture and my environment.  It is HOT HOT HOT!  In the beginning, I only stayed indoors with the AC blasting but now I can leave the windows open....for a little while.  I have to say, I have grown to love my new surroundings and experiences.  It feels as if I moved from one paradise island to another!  I am now ready to start Whittle World back up.  I hope to add new styles with my new surrounding inspirations.

Blank Kokeshi Doll

I received a request to make these types of dolls.  A Kokeshi doll is a Japanese wooden doll.  It is traditionally a turned piece on a lathe.  I have created my version of the Kokeshi doll and have listed her in my shop.  She is approximately 3 and 3/4 inches tall with her head being 2 inches in diameter.  I have also painted one to show what the possibilities are.  Only the imagination is the limit.  If interested, you can purchase one in my shop here.

The Force is Growing Strong!

As requested by my son, I have made a few more Star Wars inspired Whittles.  From Left to Right is Yoda, Princess Leia, Darth Vader (with light saber - created from a Japanese toothpick), C3PO, and R2D2.  Unfortunately, my lack of photography skills does not do these Whittles justice.  I wish you could see the details of the 3D effects of the paint that I used, especially on C3PO; however, the light washes it out.  I am currently working on a Storm Trooper, Luke, Han Solo, and Chewbacca.  Once I create these, then I will move into more characters such as Obi Wan, Emperor, Jabba the Hutt, Jawas, and Ewoks.  Then I can start moving into episodes 1, 2, and 3.  Can you say, "ambitious?"  Wish me luck!

May the Force Be WHITTLE You!

This is Peg Wood as Princess Leia from Star Wars.  She is NOT for sale for obvious reasons.  I just made her because my son is a HUGE Star Wars fan.  He now wants me to make ALL of the Star Wars figures.  I'll be sure to post the pictures when I have created them.  Enjoy!
